Unit Kaunseling & Kebajikan Pelajar (UniK) merupakan salah satu unit di bawah Pusat Khidmat Pelajar, Pejabat Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni UNIMAS bermula pada 1 Ogos 2011. UniK menyediakan perkhidmatan membantu para pelajar atau individu dalam perkembangan diri melalui pendekatan kaunseling dan psikologi.

Seramai 4 orang Pegawai Psikologi yang bertauliah dan berdaftar di bawah Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia yang bertanggungjawab mengendalikan perkhidmatan kaunseling serta dibantu oleh empat orang Penolong Pegawai Psikologi yang berpengalaman. Pegawai Pembangunan Masyarakat bertanggungjawab menguruskan urusan kebajikan pelajar yang meliputi bantuan kebajikan, agihan zakat dan sumbangan serta tuntutan insurans. .


Objectif

  • Melaksanakan khidmat bimbingan dan kaunseling secara individu dan kelompok kepada pelajar, staf dan komuniti setempat agar mereka memperolehi kesejahteraan dan kestabilan psikologi, kemahiran interpersonal serta dorongan untuk membuat perubahan diri yang positif.
  • Menyelaras dan melaksanakan pengurusan dan khidmat rundingan yang melibatkan Bantuan Kewangan Pelajar UNIMAS kepada pelajar yang memerlukan bantuan.
  • Menyelaras dan melaksanakan konsultasi dan pengurusan berkaitan hal ehwal pelajar Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) bagi meningkatkan kefungsian dan potensi yang terbaik.
  • Menyelaras dan melaksanakan aktiviti-aktiviti dan program-program pembangunan modal insan berdasarkan pendekatan psikologi dan kaunseling yang merangkumi perkembangan, intervensi, pencegahan dan pemulihan bagi meningkatkan penghargaan diri dan potensi diri pelajar agar seimbang dari sudut akademi dan sahsiah.

  • Counseling Session Service
    • Conduct counseling sessions individually, in groups, via e-mail and e-counseling related to personal, academic, social, career, financial, sexual, family and other issues.
  • Carry out counseling activities
    • Conduct counseling sessions individually, in groups, via e-mail and e-counseling related to personal, academic, social, career, financial, sexual, family and other issues.
  • Mind Discourse (In-house Training)
    • Develop a systematic module that trains certain skills such as Coaching Student Counselor Training, Basic Counseling Skill Course and so on.
  • Guidance
    • Organize programs towards self-development of students on certain aspects such as learning skills, financial management, stress management, academic and co-curricular balancing programs and others.
  • Consultation
    • Held through Student Counselor, consultation with University Staff, consultation with Human Resources Division including external organizations / agencies and so on.
  • Roadshow / Outreach
    • To erradicate community stigma and raise awareness of counseling needs through the publication and distribution of information sources, exhibitions, web and self-help fan pages.
  • Testing and Measurement
    • Conducting Psychological Testing / Inventory in understanding client/ client's problems such as Sidek Personality Inventory (IPS), Sidek Career Interest Inventory (IMKS) and so on.
  • Community Service
    • Conduct programs such as the Motivation Program, UPSR / PT3 / SPM Excellence Camp, giving lecturers and encouraging students to fulfill their wishes and dreams.
  • Evaluation and Research
    • Facilitating faculty and universities to have better understanding and to understand students' problems / inclinations by conducting research such as Student Perception Evaluation and Student Learning Habits as well as student issues, quality evaluation of services provided at universities.
  • e-Counseling
    • The e-Counseling Forum offers online discussion services to UNIMAS students. This forum is run by the staff of Student Welfare and Counseling Unit. Each UNIMAS student may ask any questions related to issues / problems encountered and may interact with registered counselors. In addition, Unit's staff and students can also provide insights or help individuals who face problems especially in academic matters.   • UNIMAS Student Takaful Protection
    • To assist in the application of UNIMAS student takaful claims.
  • Student UNIMAS of Disabled People Category Management (OKU)
    • Manage the pocket money aid application and the tuition fees for the UNIMAS disable student.
    • Work directly with the Ministry of Higher Education and update tuition fees including for the disable students.
    • Update the disable students' semester examination report to be submitted to Ministry of Higher Education
    • Assist disable people in new application procedures for financial aid.
    • Directly deal with the Social Welfare Department in the matter of registering disable persons and the status of the cardholder.

Financial Aid Applications will be processed and approved by the Student Financial Aid Fund Committee. Approval covers all the fund as listed above. The application procedure is as follows:

  • Application forms can be found at the Student Development Centre Office
  • Applicants must seek for mentor support and confirmation from the Deputy Dean of Undergraduate and Student Development at their faculty.
  • Applicants will be called for an interview session by panel from UNIMAS Student Welfare Committee Member
  • An application that has been successfully interviewed will be brought to the discussion of approval at the Student Welfare Committee Meeting chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of HEP held once every 2months.
  • The members of the meeting comprise the UNIMAS Student Welfare Committee (FIGURE 1) and ad hoc members who are the Deputy Dean of Students' Undergraduate and Development or their representatives.
  • The successful list of applicants will be sent to the Treasurer's Office for payment.
